Oslo Freedom Forum 2019

About

At Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF), dissidents and entrepreneurs gain awareness and funding for their work; nonprofits, governments, companies, and foundations learn firsthand about some of the latest trends and areas of need in the human rights field; and the relationship between technology and civil liberties is strengthened.

While OFF and its impact continue to grow, the original vision and purpose for our gathering remain the same: to bear witness to the power and nobility of the human spirit. The theme for the 2019 OFF was “Unite,” encouraging participants to make at least one new ally at this year’s event and commit to working with them on a project in the service of human rights and freedom.

Hosted from May 27–29, 2019, speakers included investigative human rights journalist Pete Pattisson, Hong Kong singer and pro-democracy activist Denise Ho, Somali activist and educator Fartuun Adan, and more.

One day I’m going to write about the immeasurable impact the Oslo Freedom Forum has for activists and the communities they represent, the unexpected friendships they make possible, and the extraordinary love we get that fuels us to keep going.
