Due to travel restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic, the first online Oslo Freedom Forum (OFF) was live-streamed on Sept. 24–25, 2020.
Despite the year’s challenges, OFF united many of the world’s leading human rights defenders to share their stories, brainstorm ways to address pressing issues, and explore the intersections between freedom, technology, artistic expression, and media. The online format allowed thousands of people from around the world to participate and hundreds of thousands to watch.
Speakers included civil rights activist and leader of the #ThisFlag movement Evan Mawarire, leader of the Belarusian democratic movement Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Academy Award-winning film director Bryan Fogel, and more.
There is only one power we have and our power is just and our power is right. It is our voice. Our voice. And we must use it in whatever capacity capacity we can.
