Omar Alshogre is a Syrian public speaker and human rights advocate who fled Syria at the age of 20 after being imprisoned and tortured for participating in demonstrations against the Syrian regime. He currently raises awareness of the situation in Syria and leads the Syrian Emergency Task Force’s advocacy for the liberation of detainees. He joins us on the 2022 Oslo Freedom Forum stage to tell his story of imprisonment and resistance.

Omar Alshogre is a Syrian public speaker and human rights advocate who endured three years of unjust imprisonment before being smuggled out and brought to safety. He serves as the director of Detainee Affairs for the Syrian Emergency Task Force and the spokesperson for Atrocities Tracker, dedicating himself to the critical cause of advocating for the release of those unjustly detained. Alshogre’s public speaking engagements focus on the essential elements of effective storytelling, leadership in crisis, and trauma as a driving force.
