Jason Silva

Jason Silva is a Venezuelan-American filmmaker, television personality, and public speaker. Silva grew up in Caracas, where he developed an interest in storytelling through film. Described by The Atlantic as the “Timothy Leary of the Viral Video Age,” Silva is known for hosting the National Geographic Channel’s Emmy-nominated series “Brain Games,” as well as his Discovery Digital YouTube series, “Shots of Awe,” which explores topics of creativity, innovation, exponential technology, futurism, metaphysics, and the human condition. He created a short film for TEDGlobal that explores the power of technology to share ideas across the globe and its ability to engage people in philosophy and science. In 2011, Silva became a fellow at the Hybrid Reality Institute, where he examined the relationship between humans and technology. He was recently named a National Geographic Society fellow, providing expert consultation on National Geographic projects, education, outreach, and environmental and public policy.
