Sima Samar is the former chairwoman of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) and founder of the Shuhada Organization, which supports the education and health needs of Afghan refugee women and girls. In her talk at the Oslo Freedom Forum, Samar explains how 31 years of war and invasion have forced Afghan society to become very conservative and unfriendly toward human rights, especially the rights of women.
