Taiwan’s digital minister

Audrey Tang is Taiwan’s inaugural Minister for Digital Affairs and first non-binary cabinet member. Tang is the youngest minister without portfolio in the country’s history at the age of 35. A software programmer and civic hacker, Tang’s work focuses on harnessing technology to enhance democracy and preserve online freedoms. Tang served on the Taiwanese National Development Council’s Open Data Committee and led the country’s first e-rulemaking project. Tang is a core member of g0v, a community focused on promoting transparency of government information and improving civic engagement. Tang hosts “Innovative Minds with Audrey Tang,” a video podcast that has featured prominent names, including former Estonian president Toomas Hendrik Ilves and Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin. Time included Tang in its 100 most influential people in AI 2023 list.
