
Investigative journalist Clare Rewcastle Brown’s story of fighting corruption within the Malaysian government spans the course of a decade. Since 2010, her online news site, Sarawak Report, has regularly exposed high-ranking government officials for their theft of state funds and exploitation of environmental initiatives. In her talk, Rewcastle Brown describes how she and her team were threatened and blacklisted for their work and examines why independent media plays such a crucial role in the achievement of democratic change.
