Emily Parker is an American writer, digital diplomacy advisor, and senior fellow at the New America Foundation. She is the author of “Now I Know Who My Comrades Are: Voices From the Internet Underground,” a collection of on-the-ground accounts of how the Internet is transforming lives in China, Cuba, and Russia. Parker worked as a writer and editor for the Wall Street Journal and as an editor for the New York Times. Parker is the founder of Code4Country, a coding marathon that brought together Russian and American software developers to brainstorm technological solutions to the challenges of openness and transparency. She was a member of US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s policy planning staff, where she advised on Internet freedom, open government, and digital diplomacy. Parker is CoinDesk’s executive director of global content and writes about cryptocurrency in the international community.
