Lisa Sánchez is the executive director of Mexico United against Crime (MUCD), a Mexican nongovernmental organization that has been working on citizen security, justice, and drug policy issues since 1998. She takes the stage at the Oslo Freedom Forum to show why the war on drugs has just been a war on people and share her vision for a more peaceful way forward. Sánchez has seen the fight up close, and it’s why she believes that winning the war on drugs requires a radical shift in how world leaders think, talk, and approach drugs and drug use.

Mexican drug policy expert

Lisa Sánchez is the executive director of Mexico United against Crime (MUCD), a Mexican nongovernmental organization that has been working on citizen security, justice, and drug policy issues since 1998. Sánchez is a drug policy expert who, from 2012 to 2018, directed the Drug Policy Programme at MUCD, where she also collaborated with the United Kingdom-based think tank Transform Drug Policy Foundation. In previous years, she worked for the Inter-American Drug Abuse Control Commission of the Organization of American States, the Federal Government of Mexico, the youth-led organization Espolea, and the International AIDS Society. Sánchez is also the author of several publications on drug policy and is a regular contributor to national and international media.
