Leymah Gbowee is a Liberian peace activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate who led a women’s peace movement that helped to end the country’s Second Civil War in 2003. In her talk, Gbowee went in depth into the female-led peace movement in Liberia, her continued fight for peace in Africa, and the importance of continuous engagement in the struggle for freedom.
