Nurul Izzah Anwar is a politician, former member of Parliament, and the daughter of Anwar Ibrahim, the former deputy prime minister of Malaysia, the leader of KeADILan (the People’s Justice Party), and the Prime Minister of Malaysia. Anwar entered the world of politics, campaigning against the Malaysian government on behalf of her father, a prominent opposition leader repeatedly targeted and jailed by the government. When Ibrahim was sentenced to five years in jail in March 2015, Anwar spoke on his behalf during a debate in the Malaysian Parliament. She holds multiple advisory positions to the prime minister and other special bodies related to finance.
