Emin Milli is an Azerbaijani writer and activist. Milli was assaulted and severely beaten by two men, then detained and charged with hooliganism when he complained to the police. Milli’s case drew international attention to the abuses of power by the Azerbaijani government. Now in exile, he runs an independent media outlet called Meydan TV that offers an alternative to the government-controlled narrative. He took the stage at the 2016 Oslo Freedom Forum to talk about Meydan TV’s impact and the importance of the free press.
