Exiled afghan activist and politician

Zarifa Ghafari is an Afghan advocate, activist, politician, and entrepreneur. She is one of the few Afghan female mayors and the youngest to be appointed at the age of 26. Ghafari was included by the BBC in the list of 100 inspiring and influential women from around the world in 2019 and honored by the US Department of State as an International Woman of Courage in 2020. Her story was made into a Netflix documentary, In Her Hands. She lives in exile, where she continues to advocate for human rights in Afghanistan and globally.
