Simon Powis is an Australian classical guitarist who has performed throughout the world, including in the U.S., Sweden, Belgium, the U.K., Germany, Austria, Spain, Canada, and Liechtenstein. Powis studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, London’s Royal Academy of Music, and Yale University’s School of Music, where he earned a Master of Music in performance. Upon completing his degree, Powis Was accepted as the first guitarist in over two decades to undertake doctoral studies at Yale. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists—including the Modigliani String Quartet and violinist Ian Swensen—and has toured extensively as a soloist with performances at the Kennedy Center, Australia House, and the Banff Center for the Arts.
