Philippa Thomas is an international journalist and academic, known for her high-profile career as a BBC television and radio presenter. In March 2022, she is hosting / hosted the independent Trust in News conference focussing on information warfare in Ukraine and beyond, and offering tools to empower those who fight back for free speech and uncensored journalism. During her three decade broadcasting career with BBC News, Thomas anchored daily live news shows on BBC World TV, live election coverage for World Service Radio, and was based in Washington DC as a White House correspondent and foreign correspondent. Philippa first attended the Oslo Freedom Forum in 2011 as a Harvard University Nieman Journalism fellow. She has returned many times to conduct panel debates and in-depth on-stage interviews – helping bring the stories and insights of human rights defenders to a wider audience.
