Frederica Jansz is a Sri Lankan journalist and the former
editor in chief of The Sunday Leader, a Sri Lankan newspaper once well known for its criticism of the government. Jansz began
her career as a television journalist and began working at The
Sunday Leader in 1994. She took over leadership of the paper in
2009, after the previous editor in chief, Lasantha Wickrematunge,
was assassinated. While working at the paper, Jansz received
death threats for publishing articles critical of the government;
in 2012, she was fired from the paper when it was bought by pro-government forces. She now resides in the U.S. and is a senior editor of The Seattle Globalist.
