Tutu Alicante is a human rights lawyer from Equatorial Guinea and the executive director of EG Justice, which campaigns for human rights, the rule of law, and democracy in the country. Alicante is a vocal critic of the kleptocratic dictatorship of Teodoro Obiang, the world’s longest-serving republican head of state. He founded EG Justice in 2007 and has also worked on natural resource revenue transparency and human rights accountability in the Gulf of Guinea as a legal consultant for international human rights organizations. He writes commentary and gives interviews in international publications, and through his work at EG Justice, he monitors corruption and human rights abuses on behalf of concerned individuals and organizations that demand transparency and meaningful reform in Equatorial Guinea.
