Jared Genser

Human rights lawyer and founder of Freedom Now

Jared Genser is the founder of Freedom Now, a nonprofit organization that works to free prisoners of conscience worldwide, and the managing director of Perseus Strategies, LLC. In 2009, the National Law Journal selected him as one of its “40 Under 40: Washington’s Rising Stars.” His pro bono clients have included Aung San Suu Kyi and Liu Xiaobo. Genser was a 2006–07 visiting fellow with the National Endowment for Democracy, a lifetime member of the Council on Foreign Relations, and a member of the World Economic Forum’s Forum of Young Global Leaders (Class of 2008). Genser was awarded the American Bar Association’s International Human Rights Award in 2013.
