James Kirchick

American journalist and foreign correspondent

James Kirchick is a journalist and foreign correspondent based in Berlin. Kirchick has reported from Southern and North Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia,Eastern Europe, and the Caucuses. He is a columnist for Ha’aretz and the New York Daily News and writes the “Continental Drift” column on Europe for Tablet. Kirchick’s writing has appeared in The Weekly Standard, The American Interest, The Virginia Quarterly Review, Prospect, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, World Affairs, and The Los Angeles Times. And in Canada’s National Post, the Czech Republic’s Lidove Noviny, and The Australian. Kirchick is a contributing writer for The Advocate—the United States’ largest gay publication—and is a recipient of the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association Excellence in Journalism Award and the Journalist of the Year Award. A graduate of Yale University, Kirchick is a fellow with the Foreign Policy Initiative and the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
