Dr. Zohreh Abdollahkhani

Chair, Human Rights For Sport

Dr. Zohreh Abdollahkhani is chair and co-founder of Human Rights For Sport, established in Oslo in 2023 to raise awareness and take action for human rights in sport. The organization focuses on sport and human rights in contexts of political and social unrest. A former national ice climber known as Iran’s “Icy Girl,” she made history by winning Iran’s first-ever medal in ice climbing at the 2014 Asian Championships.

She holds a master’s degree in Global Sport Management from Seoul National University and a PhD in Sport Policy and Politics from the University of South-Eastern Norway. Her research focuses on how global sport governing bodies, including the IOC and FIFA, address their commitments to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights within their social sustainability governance.
