Alexa Zamora is a Nicaraguan political activist with over a decade of experience advocating for democracy and human rights. She specializes in leveraging inter-American systems and international protection mechanisms. Zamora has managed international projects focused on democratic strengthening, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. She has received the Martin Luther King Award for Democracy and Human Rights, and she was a National Endowment for Democracy fellow and a Sakharov Fellow of the European Parliament. Her activism intensified in 2018 when she joined the National Blue and White Unity (UNAB), where she holds leadership roles. Due to political persecution, she was forced into exile in Costa Rica and was later deprived of her nationality in 2023.
