For decades, Gere has drawn attention to humanitarian crises rooted in injustice and promoted causes devoted to compassion and non-violent activism. A cornerstone of his advocacy is his unwavering dedication to the Tibetan people and their struggle to preserve their unique culture, identity, and way of life. He has served as the Board Chairman of the International Campaign for Tibet since 1995. Gere is the founder of the Gere Foundation, a private organization focused on education, human rights, advocacy, and cultural and environmental preservation.
