DJ Switch

Nigerian artist and #EndSARS movement activist

Obianuju Catherine Udeh, aka DJ Switch, is an acclaimed Nigerian disk jockey, musician, creative producer, activist, and Reagan Democracy Fellow. She uses her art to draw attention to injustice, corruption, and bad governance, notably with songs such as “”Pray Sote”” (with a remix featuring Busta Rhymes) and the parody “”Don’t Cry for Me Nigeria.”” In October 2020, she joined a peaceful sit-in in Lagos as part of the #EndSARS anti-police brutality protests and was injured when the military opened fire on the sit-in. Her livestream of the shooting and testimony prompted death threats and forced her into exile.
