Janet Hinostroza is an Ecuadorian television reporter and host. Her reports have covered a range of topics, including extrajudicial killings and scandals within the Ecuadorian police force. In 2012, she was forced to take a leave of absence from her morning news show after receiving anonymous threats in retaliation for filing a report that uncovered irregularities on a loan issued by a state-owned bank and tied to President Rafael Correa’s cousin. Hinostroza was the recipient of the 2013 Committee to Protect Journalists International Press Freedom Award.
