Treating the Invisible Wounds of Torture Nada Dhaif

2016 Oslo Freedom Forum
May 24, 2016

Torture is a massive problem, but Dr. Nada Dhaif says that what comes after is a much bigger part of the issue. Very few resources are committed to helping survivors of torture. Dr. Dhaif knows this as well as anyone. She was arrested and tortured by the Bahraini government after participating in pro-democracy demonstrations in Manama. Now she’s focused on providing essential treatment and resources to torture survivors. She took the stage at the 2016 Oslo Freedom Forum to discuss her important work and how it’s making her and her family the target of persistent threats.
