American photojournalist Stephanie Sinclair draws attention through her work to the global problem of child marriage. Girls in many countries around the world are taken from their families and forced into marriages, often while they are still pre-pubescent. These girls have no rights within their societies, but many organizations are standing up to help them resist these marriages or escape and obtain divorce. Sinclair tells the story of one child bride she met who claimed to have “never felt loved” in her entire life. Her story inspires Sinclair to continue to expose and combat the practice of child marriage until it is eradicated.
