Speaking while under a travel ban for allegedly defaming members of parliament, Singaporean opposition leader Chee Soon Juan reveals the challenges of living under the authoritarian regime that rules one of the world's richest countries. Despite its wealth, Chee shows that Singapore is an extremely unequal and unfree society that can only be maintained through government exploitation of its people. Chee highlights the case of Chia Thye Poh—a member of the Singaporean parliament and former political prisoner who was held without trial for 32 years—as an example of the authoritarian power of the Singaporean government.
