Supply Chain Slavery

British actress and anti-slavery activist Julia Ormond reveals how slavery often seems to be hidden, but in reality it is often in plain sight—most individuals simply cannot recognize it and take action to end it. She identifies the global supply chain that supports the creation and transportation of products around the world as a strategic point at which to attack slavery. Trade is one of the most powerful institutions within and between countries, and combating slavery within the supply chain can help engage stakeholders at all levels to fight for change. In this way, Ormond explains, the systemic problems within corporate culture that are enabling slavery and the exploitation of workers in the developing world can be tackled.
