Russian chess champion and democracy advocate Garry Kasparov reminds us that while Vladimir Putin may seem too dangerous and powerful to confront openly, the West has effective,non-violent weapons at its disposal. Hit Putin where it hurts, Kasparov explains: freeze the hundreds of billions in cash reserves that Putin’s gang hides in the West and boycott or tax the oil and gas exports that make up over 80% of Russian exports. Kasparov emphasizes that dictatorship can be defeated, but only if those who are dedicated to the values of human life, individual freedom, and democracy have the courage to take a stand.
