Soraya Bahgat is an Egyptian-Finnish human rights activist and founder of Tahrir Bodyguard. Baghat took to the Oslo Freedom Forum stage to highlight the importance of empowering women during revolutions, protecting them, and raising awareness’ of their struggle in the wake of the Tahrir Square protests in Egypt.

Egyptian-Finnish actvist and founder of Tahrir Bodyguard

Soraya Bahgat is an Egyptian-Finnish human rights activist and founder of Tahrir Bodyguard, a nonprofit organization that seeks to empower women and promote the safety of female protestors in Egypt. Bahgat formed the Tahrir Bodyguard, which works to end sexual harassment in Egyptian society by empowering women and raising awareness in the wake of numerous sexual assaults that occurred during protests in Tahrir Square. She is a member of the Girl Generation’s strategic advisory group, an African-led movement to end female genital mutilation in one generation. And in 2016, she became the founder and director of SEBA Partners, an organization that provides strategic guidance to international governments and non-governmental organizations operating within Egypt.
