Chinese-Canadian actress

Anastasia Lin is a Chinese-Canadian actress, beauty pageant competitor, and human rights advocate. Lin is particularly outspoken about the persecution of practitioners of Falun Gong, a Buddhism-inspired spiritual movement that is banned in China, and has used her career platforms to bring attention to China’s lack of religious freedom and its persecution of religious minorities. Crowned Miss World Canada in 2015, Lin gained international attention after Beijing denied her a visa to compete in the Miss World contest in Hainan. Since then, Lin has been invited to speak at the National Press Club in Washington D.C., the Oxford Union, and the Geneva Human Rights Summit at the United Nations, and has testified in front of the United States Congress, British Parliament, and the Taiwanese Legislative Assembly.
