Ecuadorean politician

Guadalupe Llori is an Ecuadorean politician who began her career in politics in 2000, when she was elected mayor of her hometown in the Ecuadorean Amazon, Puerto Francisco de Orellana. In 2004, she was elected prefect of the Orellana Province. After organizing a strike in 2007, the government of Rafael Correa arrested her and imprisoned her on trumped-up charges of “terrorism.” Llori was finally released nine months later, following an international campaign for her release. She was reelected prefect of Orellana in 2008. More recently, Llori also served as the president of the National Assembly between 2021 and 2022.
