Bolivian assembly woman and opposition leader

Toribia Lero Quispe is an indigenous rights, women’s rights, and pro-democracy advocate from Bolivia. She serves as a member of the country’s Legislative Assembly and has become a leader of the democratic opposition. For opposing the authoritarianism of Morales’ Movement Toward Socialism party, Lero Quispe and her fellow Bolivian Democrats routinely face violence, intimidation, and widespread judicial persecution.
