Janet Hinostroza is a leading Ecuadorean television reporter and host of such popular programs as “30 Plus” and the morning news show “La Mañana de 24 Horas.” Her reports have covered a range of topics, including extrajudicial killings and scandals within the Ecuadorian police force. In 2012, she was forced to take a leave of absence from her morning news show after receiving anonymous threats in retaliation for filing a report that uncovers irregularities on a loan issued by a state-owned bank and tied to President Rafael Correa’s cousin. Hinostroza is the recipient of the 2013 Committee to Protect Journalists International Press Freedom Award.
