Felix Maradiaga is a Nicaraguan democracy advocate and the founder and executive director of the Instituto de Estudios Estratégicos y Políticas Públicas (IEEPP), a training center dedicated to promoting civic leadership and non-violence. He is among the most prominent leaders on the promotion of peace, democracy, and rule of law in Central America. Maradiaga is an outspoken critic of Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega and, as a result, he has been accused of organizing crimes and financing terrorism by the government. He is a political commentator on media outlets including Deutsche Welle, CNN, and BBC, and was listed by Forbes Magazine in its list of the “Top 25 Most Influential Leaders in Central America in 2015.”
