Yeonmi Park

Human rights activist and North Korean defector

Yeonmi Park is a human rights activist and North Korean defector. In 2007, Park and her mother escaped to China, where they endured abuse at the hands of human traffickers. Park has used her hard-won freedom to speak out against oppression, raising awareness through speeches and media appearances. Her speech “”Escaping from North Korea in search of freedom”” at the One Young World stage garnered over 82 million views and world wide attention for the harrow realities of life under the Kim dictatorship. She is also the author of two books, “In Order to Live” and “”While Time Remains.”” Park serves on the board of the Human Rights Foundation.
