Sai Htin Linn Htet is a Burmese artist and curator whose work examines authoritarianism, censorship, political memory, and resistance. Since the 2021 military coup in Burma, he has used exhibitions, archives, and collaborative art projects to document repression and advance democratic solidarity. In July 2025, Sai curated “Constellation of Complicity: Visualising the Global Machinery of Authoritarian Solidarity” at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, an exhibition illustrating how authoritarian regimes cooperate to entrench one another’s power. Under pressure from the Chinese Communist Party, Thai officials removed or obscured pieces referencing Tibetans and Uyghurs and blacked out the names of participating artists. Shortly afterward, Sai fled to the United Kingdom, where he continues to denounce Burma’s junta and the broader phenomenon of authoritarian collaboration. He remains in exile today, continuing his work under the persistent threat of transnational repression.
