Human rights advocate and director of the Institute for Public Analysis

Rita Karasartova is a human rights advocate, director of the Institute for Public Analysis, and active member of the United Democratic Movement of Kyrgyzstan. She started her journey as an educator and has since contributed significantly to committees and councils dedicated to Kyrgyz civil rights while using her social media platforms to voice robust critiques of governmental authorities. In October of 2022 She was arrested alongside 26 others peacefully protesting a border agreement between Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan in October of 2022. She spent months detained in a small cell, and was prohibited from contacting her family or receiving medical care.
