Melissa Mahtani is an international journalist, anchor, and moderator with a focus on emerging technology, human rights, and equality. She is currently serving as the journalist-in-residence at the AI Lab, exploring some of the biggest questions around generative AI’s impact on governance, society, and the workplace. As part of her residency, Mahtani also hosts the weekly AI Lab Podcast. Prior to that, Mahtani was the executive producer of CBS News Confirmed, a new unit she launched in 2024 as part of an initiative to empower viewers to identify and combat misinformation. Before joining CBS News and Stations, Mahtani worked at CNN, where she was a senior producer and reporter. Her work straddled both traditional television as well as digital, social, audio and newsletters. Mahtani regularly moderates panels for organizations such as the Copenhagen Democracy Summit, Oslo Freedom Forum, Reuters Next Summit and the National Association of Black Journalists, among others. She has two decades of experience working in Paris, London, and New York for CBS, CNN, CNN International, CNBC, France 24, the Guardian, and ITN.
