Melissa Chan is an Emmy-nominated foreign affairs journalist based between Berlin and New York City. She is a collaborator with the Global Reporting Centre and an editorial lead and presenter for German broadcaster Deutsche Welle’s Asia news program. Chan previously served as Al Jazeera English’s China correspondent for five years before her expulsion from the country in 2012. She has received numerous awards for her work, including two Human Rights Press Awards from Amnesty International and a nod from the Overseas Press Club. She is currently working on a graphic novel, “You Must Take Part in Revolution,” in collaboration with artist Badiucao, set to be published in early 2025.
