Mariana Katzarova

United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Russian Federation

Mariana Katzarova is the first UN Special Rapporteur on human rights in Russia. She led UN examinations in Belarus, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Eastern Ukraine, Amnesty International investigations in Russia, and Chechnya conflicts. She founded RAW in WAR (Reach All Women in War) and the Anna Politkovskaya Award and is the founder of the Bulgarian newspaper “Democracy.”
