Kate Gibson

International Human Rights Lawyer, Doughty Street Chambers

Kate Gibson is an international human rights lawyer at Doughty Street Chambers in London. She has been appearing before the international criminal courts and tribunals since 2005, representing former heads of state, military leaders, and victims of international crimes in some of the field’s leading cases arising out of the conflicts in Rwanda, the former Yugoslavia, Cambodia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Sierra Leone, and Uganda. Kate’s practice also extends to hostage diplomacy and transnational repression. She was Lead Counsel to “Hotel Rwanda” subject Paul Rusesabagina who was kidnapped and detained in Rwanda, and has acted on behalf of US and UK citizens held hostage by the Taliban. She has published widely on international criminal and human rights law.
