Julio Borges is a Venezuelan politician, lawyer, and co-founder of the Primero Justicia (Justice First) political party. Borges was elected to the National Assembly in 2000 and 2010. Upon his election in 2000, Borges became one of the most outspoken members of the opposition and was an opposition primary candidate in 2006. On April 30, 2013, following Venezuela’s contested presidential election, members of the ruling Partido Socialista Unido de Venezuela (United Socialist Party of Venezuela) physically attacked Borges at the National Assembly, injuring his face.
