Ishaan Tharoor is an award-winning global affairs journalist. Until April, he was a columnist on the foreign desk of The Washington Post, where he authored WorldView, the Post’s flagship column on international politics, which also had a newsletter that garnered more than half a million regular subscribers over a decade. In 2021, he won the Arthur Ross Media Award in Commentary, a prize administered by the American Academy of Diplomacy. In 2024, he won the Ted Sorensen award for global public service, an honor bestowed by Network 20/20, a New York-based group that seeks to bridge the gap between the private sector and foreign policy worlds. He is a media leader at the World Economic Forum, teaches an occasional seminar at Georgetown University on global politics, and appears as a commentator on global affairs regularly on radio and television for outlets like CNN, NPR, CBS and the BBC. Before joining the Post in 2014, he was a senior editor and correspondent at Time magazine, based first in Hong Kong and later in New York. He graduated cum laude from Yale University and lives with his wife and daughter in Washington, DC.
