Igor Eidman

Russian sociologist and dissident

Igor Eidman is a Russian sociologist, political commentator, and dissident. He has served as an advisor for a number of liberal-leaning Duma members and as the communications director of the Russian Center for Public Opinion Research. Eidman has published several articles on Putinism and is the author of two books, “Breakthrough to the Future: the Sociology of the Internet Revolution” and “Putin’s New National Idea.” In 2012, he published articles in support of Pussy Riot, which caused the leadership of the Orthodox Church to bring a criminal case against him. A cousin and close friend of the assassinated opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, Eidman moved to Germany, where he remains an outspoken critic of the Putin regime.
