Dr. Matthew Gillett is the Vice-Chair of Communications of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention and a senior lecturer at the University of Essex. He was a prosecutor at the International Criminal Court and International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia. He has served for the UN in Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, and other conflict-torn locations. He is an award-winning scholar who writes about international law and human rights.
