LGBTIQ rights advocate, Chapter Four Uganda

Clare Byarugaba, BINB, is a prominent LGBTI rights activist in Uganda and serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion officer at Chapter Four Uganda. She co-leads Convening for Equality, advocating against discriminatory laws like the Anti-Homosexuality Law 2023. Clare co-founded PFLAG-Uganda to promote dialogue and family reconciliation, and UKAT, Africa’s first LGBTI swim team. She earned the 2023 Netherlands Human Rights Tulip.
