Casey Michel is the head of HRF’s Combating Kleptocracy program and the author of “American Kleptocracy: How the U.S. Created the World’s Greatest Money Laundering Scheme in History,” which investigated the relationship between dictatorships and international money laundering. His forthcoming book, “Foreign Agents: How American Lobbyists and Lawmakers Threaten Democracy Around the World” on the impact and threats of the US’s foreign lobbying industry.
