Badiucao

Chinese political artist and activist

Badiucao, one of China’s most popular and prolific political artists, fearlessly confronts global social and political issues through his creative dissent. His artwork, including his Beijing 2022 Olympics collection, details the Chinese government’s repression of the Tibetan people, the Uyghur genocide, the dismantling of democracy in Hong Kong, the regime’s omnipresent surveillance systems, and the lack of transparency surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic. Badiucao’s dedication to shedding light on critical issues through his artwork earned him the prestigious 2021 Václav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent. Currently residing in exile in Australia, he continues to boldly use his art to challenge oppression and advocate for human rights.
