Iranian cartoonist

Atena Farghadani is an Iranian artist and human rights activist who has been arrested and tortured for criticizing the Iranian regime through her cartoons. She is a recipient of the Courage in Cartooning Award and the 2016 Václav Havel International Prize for Creative Dissent for her work in the face of great danger. Farghadani’s installation at OFF 2024, “We Are Products of the Same Factory,”  honors her enduring power of creative expression.
